How does the first GlassBag collection work?
You choose a plan, place your order, and leave your glass out on your scheduled collection day. We deliver your reusable GlassBag on that first collection.
How GlassBag's Doorstep Glass Recycling Works
Getting your glass bottles and jars recycled from your doorstep is simple. Here's how our collection service works across all Dublin postcodes, North Wicklow, North Kildare and South Meath.
When do I get my collection date?
Your collection day is based on your Eircode. You will see it in your confirmation email and you will get a text reminder the night before collection.
What glass can I put out?
We collect glass bottles, jars, candle jars and broken bottle or jar glass. Pyrex, window glass, mirrors and ceramics are not accepted.
Where do I check plans or routes?
Use the pricing page for plan options and the collection calendar for route timing and upcoming collection dates.
How It Works
Step 1 — Choose Your Plan
Check out our Pricing Page to view the options available. We offer Annual, Monthly and Once-Off collection plans depending on your needs.
Once you've decided, place your order and fill in your address details. Please include your Eircode and mobile number — we need these for scheduling your collection.
Step 2 — Fill Your Bag
Use any container or bag you already have to store your glass until your first collection.
To keep waste to a minimum and reduce time on the road, we'll deliver your sturdy reusable GlassBag on the day of your first collection.
Step 3 — Check Your Collection Day
Each area we service is assigned a collection day based on your Eircode. You'll find your collection day in your confirmation email, and you'll get a text reminder the night before each collection.
You can also check the collection calendar to find your area's day. If you can't find your Eircode, reach out at info@glassbag.ie.
Step 4 — We Collect
The night before your collection, you'll receive a text reminder to the number on file.
Leave your bag out the night before in a visible spot so our team doesn't miss it. We'll leave the bag back with you once we've collected the glass.

How to Maintain Your Bag
After each collection, we leave the same bag back with you so you can start filling it again straight away.
We recommend giving it a quick rinse with soapy water after each collection, wiping it down and hanging it up to dry. Simple as that.

I was easily able to recycle my glass jars. Unfortunately, I didn't get a glass bag this time (I saw the pickup guy who grabbed my paper sack of glass without leaving an "official" glass bag). As glass is truly the best recyclable container, I'm amazed that this isn't part of out regular recycling pickup.

Glassbag has solved all my bottle problems. Instead of carting a cumbersome load to a bottle bank (usually full) Glassbag collects all my bottles on a monthly basis, and for a very reasonable cost. Well Done Glassbag

Glass recycling in Ireland sucks. General waste companies don't take it and, without a car, recycling facilities are few and far between. For me to recycle my glass takes: 30 minute walk, wait for bus, 10 minutes on bus, 5 minute walk; return. All with a heavy bag of glass. The alternatives are to use plastic or to put glass in the general waste, neither of which is appealing. Less than E10 a month for someone to collect and dispose of it responsibly is well worth it in my opinion. Bonus points because the guys who run Glassbag are very friendly, helpful and responsive. An all around good service that I recommend for those struggling with recycling glass. [Edited to add that, years later, I'm still using them and I still find them very helpful. Good service.]

Am a new "on-demand" as opposed to a monthly Glass Bag customer. Overall a pleasant, approachable and responsive team. A hiccup in the signing up process was quickly resolved and the first collection went smoothly per calendar for area. I particularly liked the "30-minutes away" alert and the associated on-line tracking. Only minor quibble for me is the size of the official green glass bag - perfect for a regular collection, but perhaps less so for infrequent or on-demand collection. Nevertheless can recommend this convenient service which fills a real glass recycling niche. Will continue to use..

Glass recycling in Dublin is difficult without a car. These guys have solved my problem by offering an affordable doorstep service! Just rinse your bottles, place in provided bag, and set out on your allocated collection day.

This is a great service at a great price. Since our local glass recycling bottle banks were removed I was looking for a way of easily disposing of household glass jars and bottles and Glassbag was easy to set up and use and is a perfect solution.

These guys are a blessing, we were sick of having to walk glass down to the bottle bank. The collection is good value, the bag is actually huge and they’re so personal - when they didn’t think my bag had been collected yet I got a call to check and offer to pick it up that evening (it had already been collected but it was nice how much attention they give to individual customers!)
